Who is Jorge?
I’m a gay Latino male, born and raised into a Mexican-American family. I’m currently working on my profession utilizing my Master’s degree and celebrating living with HIV for the past 10 years.

Who has influenced you in your life?
My parents! My mother me too much taught, the most important thing was “I never forget to be noble and where I come.” My father has taught me a good man; Thanks to the love of them, I am proud to be a man gay Latino HIV-positive.

Who was your first love?
At the age of 14 years old, I experience my first love, although it was a platonic relationship. After 4 years of this relationship, I faced the tragedy of losing my love to HIV/AIDS. This was one of the toughest moments of my life that I had to face; he will always be my first love.

What was the biggest challenge in my life?
When I got diagnosed HIV positive in 2001, with 21 years of age, it was very difficult for me to accept it, then was the biggest of my life failure, my world I collapsed and all my dreams and goals ended, leave my studies, my friends and me away from all the people.

Post an HIV diagnosis, can you be and feel sexy again?
My diagnosis changed life forever. At first I felt dirty, sick, and there was nothing of me which was “sexy”. After able to work my diagnosis, and assimilate it, today, I am sexy, handsome and capable of achieving any dream or goal. Be sexy is to be intelligent, passionate and proud of whom you are, HIV I steal my youth, I steal the beauty outside, but was unable to dominate and destroy the “sexy Bombon” that I bring inside.

If you could have avoided something in your life, what would it be?
Learn to avoid the circumstances in which my relationship ended, any couples due to challenges of trust and love purely without barriers or conditions we have hurt each other.

What is your profession?
Today working as a Mental Health therapist. I love to be able to support and work with new clients who arrive with a diagnosis of HIV, assimilate what is happening to them. Life is like a jigsaw puzzle and my responsibility is to join every stage of our lives very difficult though, part of my job is to help put these pieces in place.

Is it difficult to be gay and HIV positive within the LGBT community?
It was difficult for me at first because the comments heard have been strong. It was no longer the boy handsome or young, but the boy patient, HIV positive guy, and the comments damaged. When I was young, did not know who he was, and after HIV, less. The diagnosis I steal my identity, my youth, and change everything. But today is who I am, and HIV is not an obstacle for me, but another feature that makes “Jorge-Armando” who is. Sometimes there are guys who don’t want to enter a courtship with me because of my diagnosis, but after 10 years, I go forward and not me I focus on what could not be, if not on what they are so lost!(laughs).

How are you intimately?
I’m romantic, caring, very detailed, flirtatious, and fun. The details of how I am during intimacy will remain private. I’m a private person, and I believe that there are things that should be left for the imagination and for the intimate moments I will share with my next romantic interest.
