Jovenes cantantes con la determinación que tiene Fedro son un orgullo para la comunidad GLBT, y para todos en general. Viene nuevo disco de Fedro, y esta vez la gran mayoría de los temas son inéditos. Seguro escuchaste el año pasado un par de singles que sacó, uno de ellos Fiesta que sonó mucho, y que también formará parte de su disco Aquí Estoy Yo, título también de su nuevo tema escrito por Samo ex-Camila. La próxima vez que veas a Fedro ya no le verás su tatuaje de lágrima en la cara, ya que se la removió para comenzar este nuevo año una nueva etapa de su vida. Te invito a que leas una entrevista donde Fedro nos habla abiertamente de los dolores del pasado y la energía del presente.
Alberto: Ya casi estrenando tu nuevo disco, háblanos de Aquí Estoy Yo.
Fedro: Sí, feliz con la preparación del disco y el lanzamiento del sencillo Aquí Estoy Yo, pronto tendrán el material completo. La respuesta ha sido muy buena, hace unos días que se lanzó el tema, estoy super contento y agradecido.
Alberto: ¿Es Aquí Estoy Yo tu segundo o tercer disco?
Fedro: Es el tercero porque el segundo fue un disco de remixes del primer disco, porque afortunadamente el primer disco fue muy bien recibido por todos, los fans pedían los mixes y de ahí se hicieron 14 tracks, de temas como Agárrate, Dr. Psiquiatra, Yo no Nací para Amar, etc. este sería el tercero.
Alberto: Tengo entendido que Aquí Estoy Yo es tu primer tema inédito.
Fedro: Sí, bueno en realidad ya se habían lanzado dos sencillos de este nuevo disco, Fiesta y Sin Tu Amor, pero este nuevo sencillo tiene un power impresionante, ya que tiene el plus de que lo escribió Samo ex-Camila para mi, y quisimos abrir el 2015 con este tema del disco que lanzaremos en este primer trimestre.
Alberto: ¿Tienes ya un título para tu disco completo?
Fedro: Será Aquí Estoy Yo.
Alberto: Para quienes no han escuchado tu nuevo tema, háblanos de Aquí Estoy Yo y dinos qué pueden esperar al escuchar el disco completo.
Fedro: Me tomé mi tiempo para escoger los temas inéditos en su mayoría, hay un par de covers nadamás. Realmente me puse a escuchar de varios amigos compositores, y yo escribí con ellos algunas cosas, un tema cortavenas que ya pueden ver el video en Youtube, al igual que Fiesta. Aquí Estoy Yo es una fusión con sonidos de los 70s, con la programación electrónica que hay, entonces quedó como electro 70s, me encanta la letra porque habla de esas historias de dolor, de desamor, cuando quieres estar con alguien y ese alguien no te corresponde de la misma manera, y ya sabes que esas historias a nosotros los seres apasionados nos pegan muy bien.
Alberto: ¿Te ha pasado que estés super enamorado y la otra persona no te haga caso?
Fedro: Pues más que no hacerme caso a lo mejor no esperas la misma respuesta. Obviamente también me ha pasado que tal vez me enamore de alguien que al final no le gusto yo, como pasa tanto, o al revés, cuando se enamoran de ti y no le puedes corresponder porque tal vez no te gusta esa persona, sucede mucho.
Alberto: ¿Fue por alguna decepción amorosa que decidiste tatuarte la lágrima en tu cara?
Fedro: En realidad la lágrima tiene muchos más significados, pero la lágrima fue como representanto todo lo que yo he vivido en mi vida, cómo pude enfrentarme al bulling, al rechazo en algún momento, y lo hice con mucha fuerza como creo que deben hacerlo todos los que están pasando por una situación de bulling o una situación de rechazo, lo deben de tomar no para ir hacia abajo sino para ir hacia arriba, para luchar, para seguir adelante, porque la vida es única, y hay muchas más opciones, tienes que valerte de gente que te apoye. Pero sí, evidentemente la lágrima tiene que ver con eso, tiene que ver con una situación que yo viví y que afortunadamente superé, significaba todo ese dolor que yo he experimentado en mi vida, pero en este momento yo soy una persona plena, una persona bendecida, entonces por lo mismo decidí quitármela, no tengo porque mostrar más esa lágrima, las lágrimas denotan tristeza. Claro que seguiré cantanto los temas de desamor porque a todos nos gustan, me encanta interpretar ese tipo de canciones, pero sí, decidí empezar este año sin la lágrima.
Alberto: Aunque ya estábamos acostumbrados a verte con tu lagrimita, creo que es mucho mejor que te la hayas quitado.
Fedro: La verdad es que es otra etapa de mi vida.
Alberto: ¿A qué nivel y en qué circunstancias sufriste de bulling?
Fedro: Fue muy duro. Yo vengo de un lugar pequeño que se llama Navojoa, en Sonora, de por si en nuestras culturas latinas a través de las generaciones el machismo ha existido, cuando hay una persona distinta van en contra de él, casi siempre. Entonces, me tocó vivir en un pueblito machista y me tocó vivir bulling, pero yo nunca permití que nadie me faltara al respeto, asi como me lo hacían yo también respondía, no estoy diciendo que tienes que responder de una manera agresiva pero tampoco tienes por qué dejarte. Simplemente tienes que tomar acción, lo que tenga que suceder pero no de una manera agresiva porque es un cuento de nunca acabar, pero sí lo viví y fue bastante doloroso, al final es algo que existe para que las nuevas generaciones tomen nota, los padres, los maestros…y para esto estamos nosotros los artistas para hablar al respecto y apoyar a esas personas que sueñan con hacer algo quizás como yo, cantar, hacer algo a nivel social, y que por esa situación de bulling creen que no es posible, y aquí está la prueba de que sí es posible.
Alberto: Tienes varios covers de Gloria Trevi, de Juan Gabriel, ¿son artistas que han servido como modelos a seguir para ti? ¿han sido influencia para ti? ¿quiénes otros podrían ser y por qué?
Fedro: Claro, mira, mi más grande influencia desde la infancia es una cantante española que se llama Mónica Naranjo, que de hecho en este disco nuevo viene un cover, El Amor Coloca que a mi me encantaba cuando yo era niño, su voz de ella siempre me pareció mágica, todo su personaje, su cabello de dos colores, era una cantante como una drag queen, a mi me impactaba muchísimo. Me impactaban las letras de Gloria, la voz de Alejandra, yo tuve el placer de ser corista de ambas e hice escenicamente cosas maravillosas con ellas, son mis grandes maestras. Aunque nunca trabajé con Juan Gabriel lo conozco, sus canciones me llegan al corazón porque creo que las personas distintas interpretamos las cosas obviamente de manera diferente, y yo creo que Juan Gabriel es un ícono impresionante para la comunidad gay, y cantar sus canciones para mi es un placer, me llegan al alma. Sí son grandes influencias para mi estas personas que he mencionado.
Alberto: También has trabajado con Natalia Jiménez, que tiene un vocerrón.
Fedro: Sí, la verdad que tuve la oportunidad de abrir concierto para ella en Puerto Rico, y fue algo inolvidable, y voy a estar abriéndole shows en México, en Estados Unidos, tal vez en Colombia, estamos cerrando fechas, la verdad es que es una chica que siempre me ha apoyado y que siempre ha creido en lo que yo hago y me está invitando a abrirle su gira y yo lo agradezco infinitamente porque la verdad mis respetos para la voz de Natalia, para su talento y todo lo que ella ha dejado en la música.
Alberto: Estuviste un poquito distanciado en algún punto con tu familia, ¿cómo estás ahora?
Fedro: Sí, estuve distanciado, de hecho ahora estamos maravillosamente bien, pero como te mencionaba en lo del bulling anteriormente, obviamente a ningún padre le enseñan a lidiar con hijos distintos, es algo que se tiene que ir valorando y aprendiendo con el tiempo, y más en la generación que me tocó vivir a mi, ahora yo creo que los padres están un poquito más informados, pero sí mis padres, que siempre fueron padres increibles, responsables, nos dieron lo mejor, pero sí en este caso para mis padres era muy difícil lidiar con el rollo gay, y a los 16 decide él retirarme de la casa, correrme de alguna manera. A partir de ahí yo empecé a ver por mi vida, trabajando, buscando becas, y afortunadamente después de cinco años nos reencontramos y ahora llevamos una relación maravillosa, pero estuve cinco años distanciado de mi familia, algo muy fuerte, porque el rechazo de alguien que te trajo al mundo es uno de los dolores más grandes que una persona pueda sentir, pero al final cuando tú comprendes que no lo hacen con la intención de rechazarte sino que lo hacen por la ignorancia o por no saber cómo hacerlo lo comprendes y los perdonas. Hay gente que no los perdona, he invito a esos seres que guardan ese rencor a que lo dejer ir, que perdonen, que sepan que no lo hacen porque quieren hacerlo, que les duele y que simplemente no saben cómo lidiar con eso.
Alberto: Son en cierta forma víctimas de la ignorancia.
Fedro: Así es, yo creo que todas las personas que agreden, que generan odio, que hacen bulling, o los padres que no saben cómo lidiar con esas situaciones es por la ignorancia, por no saber que todos los seres humanos somos diferentes, la verdad es que cada persona es única, irrepetible, y al final todos somos iguales, la diferencia es lo que pasa en la habitación, pero eso es cosa muy personal, no me voy a meter en tu intimidad y tú no te vas a meter en la mía. Pero la gente desafortunadament sigue estigmatizando, aunque por eso estamos aquí en pie de lucha para que a las nuevas generaciones les toque menos bulling, yo creo que lo hemos logrado, ya se ven más personajes distintos, ya no se ve tampoco la flaca perfecta anoréxica, ya se están abriendo los mercados para las personas que son más naturales. Acuérdate que también muchas chicas padecían de bulling porque los estándares de belleza eran estar flaca, son situaciones por las que hay que seguir luchando. Yo me siento muy orgulloso de hablar, porque para un artista es muy bonito cantar, pero también es muy bonito poder hablar y hacer labor social y a mi me encanta eso.
Alberto: ¿Como para cuándo estará listo tu disco completo?
Fedro: Como para abril. Es un proceso largo porque queremos que quede todo perfecto. También no dejen de verme en Sábado Gigante en la sección Todo Por El Amor, que también es una cosa maravillosa en mi vida, en mi carrera, que me hayan tomado en cuenta para formar parte de un programa tan importante, y que tengo la oportunidad de hablar de muchos temas.
Alberto: Aparte de abrir shows para Natalia Jiménez, ¿tendrás presentaciones a corto plazo?
Fedro: Pues mira, me voy de promoción todo el mes de febrero a todos los programas de México como Sabadazo, en el programa de Susana Zabaleta, en la radio, en Miami voy a estar promoviendo en todas las televisoras, vamos con todo. Proximamente habrá también una gira de presentaciones para dar a conocer los sencillos, ya les estaré dando las fechas, pero todo esto lo estaré poniendo en mis redes sociales.
Alberto: Adelante Magazine es una revista dedicada a la comunidad GLBT, que siempre te ha seguido.
Fedro: Desde que empezó mi carrera me han apoyado y yo los quiero muchísimo, siempre he estado ahí presente de alguna manera, ya sea por los listados de los DJs, entrevistas, los felicito por la labor que hacen, la verdad.

Aquí Estoy Yo

Young singers with determination like Fedro are a source of pride for the LGBT community and for all in general. A new CD from Fedro is about to become available, and this time most of the songs are not previously recorded. Surely, last year you heard songs like Fiesta, that was a hit, and it will also be part of his new album Aquí Estoy Yo. That’s also the name of his most recent single, written by Samo ex-Camila. The next time you see Fedro, you will not see his tattoo tear on his face as he removed it to start this New Year as a new stage of his life. Adelante Magazine had an opportunity to interview Fedro where he talks openly about the pains of his past and the energy of his present.
Alberto: Your new album Aquí Estoy Yo is soon to be released, tell us about it.
Fedro: Yes, I’m happy that we are finishing and with the release of the single Aquí Estoy Yo, you’ll have the whole album soon. The response has been very good, it’s been only days since the release of the single, and I’m very happy and grateful.
Alberto: Is Aquí Estoy Yo your second or third album?
Fedro: It’s the third because the second contained remixes from my first album, fortunately, the first album was very well received by all, the fans were asking for the mixes and there were 14 tracks, from songs like Agárrate, Dr. Psiquiatra, Yo no Nacípara Amar, etc. so, this would be the third album.
Alberto: Is Aquí Estoy Yo your first previously unreleased track?
Fedro: Yes, well in fact there are two previous singles that were released last year, Fiesta and Sin Tu Amor, but this new single has an impressive power, it has a “plus” because it was written by Samo ex-Camila for me, and we wanted to start 2015 with this single.
Alberto: Do you have a title for the whole album?
Fedro: It will be Aquí Estoy Yo.
Alberto: For those who haven’t heard your new single, tell us about Aquí Estoy Yo, and what they can expect when they hear the whole album.
Fedro: I took my time to choose the tracks. There are only a couple of covers. I really got the chance to listen and choose material from several friends that are composers and I wrote parts with them of songs a dramatic song that is now available on YouTube, and I also wrote Fiesta. Aquí Estoy Yo is a merger with sounds of the 70’s, with the current electronic programming, so it’s like electro 70’s, I love the lyrics because it tells stories of pain, heartbreak, when you want to be with someone and that someone doesn’t feel the same way, and you know that we, passionate people love those stories.
Alberto: Have you been completely in love and the other person ignored you?
Fedro: Well, more than totally ignore me, maybe you don’t expect the answer you are getting. Obviously, it had also happened that perhaps I fell in love with someone who in the end did not like me, as it happens, or the other way around, when someone else falls in love with you, and you can’t relate to him, because probably you don’t like that person, it happens a lot.
Alberto: Was a love disappointment the reason why you decided to have the tear tattoo on your face?
Fedro: In fact, the tear has many more meanings. That tear represented everything I have lived in my life, how I could confront bullying, being rejected at some point, and I did it in a strong way, as I believe everybody else needs to do it, if they are living a bullying situation or being rejected, you need not to allow those situations to pull you down, but on the contrary, motivate you to fight, to move ahead, because life is something unique, and there are options, you have to get around the people who support you. But yes, obviously the tear has to do with all of that, has to do with a situation that I lived and that fortunately overcame. It represented all that pain that I have experienced in my life, but at this moment I’m a new person, a blessed person, and for that reason I decided to remove it. I don’t need to show that tear anymore. Tears mean sadness. Of course I will continue singing songs of heartbreak because we love them, I love to interpret those songs, but yes, I decided to start this year without the tear.
Alberto: At what level and under what circumstances did you suffer from bullying?
Fedro: It was very hard. I come from a small town called Navojoa, in Sonora, and in our Latin culture through generations being a macho has been like part of the tradition. When someone is different people tend to go against them, almost always. Then, I lived in a little macho town and I was bullied, but I never allowed people to disrespect me, and in the same way they bullied me I responded to them, and I’m not saying that you have to respond in an aggressive way but you have the right to fight back. You have to take action, but not in an aggressive way, because that can become a non-ending story, but yes, I lived it, and it was quite painful. In reality, that’s something that exists so new generations can take note, parents, teachers…and for that we as artists need to talk about it, and support people who dream about doing things in life maybe similar to what I’m doing, to sing, on a social level, and that because that bulling situation they think their dreams are not possible. Here’s the proof that this is possible.
Alberto: You have several covers from artists such as Gloria Trevi and Juan Gabriel, are they artists that have served as role models for you? Have they become an influence to you? Who else might be a role model and why?
Fedro: Yes, look, my biggest influence since childhood is a Spanish singer Monica Naranjo, in fact, in this new album there’s a cover of one of her songs, El Amor Coloca and I loved it when I was a kid. Her voice was always magic to me, her whole character, two colors of hair, she is a great singer. In a way she was like a drag queen, I loved her a lot. I was impacted by the lyrics of Gloria and the voice of Alejandra, and I had the pleasure of doing choirs for both, and also did marvelous things on stage with them, they are my great teachers. And although I never worked with Juan Gabriel I know him, and his songs speak to my heart because I believe that people that are “different” and interpret things obviously in a different way, and I believe that Juan Gabriel is an impressive icon for the gay community, and it’s a great pleasure to sing his songs, they go to my soul. Yes, they are major influences on me, the people I have mentioned.
Alberto: You have also worked with Natalia Jiménez, who has an impressive voice.
Fedro: Yes, I had the opportunity to open concerts for her in Puerto Rico, and that was unforgettable, and I will be opening for her in Mexico and the United States, maybe also in Colombia, we are still closing dates. She has always supported me, and has always believed in what I do. She is inviting me to open her shows and I’m very thankful because she deserves my respect, she is talented, she’s one of the best voices today.
Alberto: At some point you were distanced from your family, how is the situation now?
Fedro: Yes, there was an uncomfortable situation, but we are wonderfully well now. As I spoke about bullying before, parents are not taught how to proceed with a child who is “different”, that’s something that people have to value and learn with the passing of time, and that was the situation in my generation. Now I believe that parents are more conscious, and have more information. My parents were incredible and responsible, they gave us the best they could, but yes, in this case, it was difficult for my parents to deal with the gay issue, and when I was 16 my parent decided to keep me away from home. In some ways I was not welcome to enter my home anymore. And I had to make a living by myself, working, looking for scholarships, and fortunately after five years we were reunited again, and we have a wonderful relationship now. But I spent five years away from my family, and it was something really strong, because being rejected from those who gave you life is one of the biggest pains that a person can feel. But in the end, when you understand that they don’t do it with the intention of rejecting you but as a result of ignorance or because they don’t know how to deal with it, you understand and forgive. There are people who can’t forgive, and I invite those who keep all the rancor inside to let it go, to forgive, to understand that their parents don’t do it because they want to do it, they also feel pain, but they don’t know how to deal with it.
Alberto: In a certain way they are victims of ignorance.
Fedro: Yes, I think that all the people who attack, and generate hate, that start bulling others, or parents that don’t know how to deal with those situations, is just because of ignorance, because they don’t know that everybody is different. The truth is that each person is unique, unrepeatable and in the end we are all equa. The difference is what happens behind closed doors, but that’s something personal, I will not get in your private life and you will not get into mine. But, unfortunately people still stigmatize, and that’s why we are still here fighting, so the new generations can live in a world with less bulling. I think we are doing better, you can see “different” characters everywhere, it’s not just the perfect skinny anorexic, there’s more natural people. Also, remember that many girls suffered bulling because the beauty standards were being skinny, those are situations we have to continue fighting. I feel very proud because I have the opportunity to speak, as an artist it’s nice to be able to sing, but it’s also nice to be able to talk and do social work, and I love that.
Alberto: When do you expect your album to be on the market?
Fedro: Probably in April. It is a long process, because we want it to be perfect. Also, please don’t forget to watch SábadoGigante, I’m part of the section TodoPor El Amor. That’s also something wonderful in my life, for my career, to be taken into account to form part of an important TV program, and to have the opportunity to discuss many issues.
Alberto: Besides opening shows for Natalia Jiménez, will you be performing in the near future?
Fedro: Well, I’ll be promoting my album during February on all the major TV programs in Mexico, programs like Sabadazo, or the Susana Zabaleta show. I’ll be doing radio in Miami and I’ll be promoting on all the major channels. We’ll be working hard. Later on, I’ll be doing shows promoting my singles. I’ll be providing the dates via my social network.
Alberto: Adelante Magazine is a magazine dedicated to the LGBT community, where you have many followers.
Fedro: Since the beginning of my career I have always counted on them and I love them a lot. I have always been present in Adelante in some way, either the Music Charts or interviews and I want to congratulate you on the work you do.
