			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Según la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), la salud es la condición de todo ser vivo que goza de un absoluto bienestar tanto a nivel físico como a nivel mental y social.<span id="more-3743"></span> La idea de salud puede ser explicada como el grado de eficiencia del metabolismo y las funciones de un ser vivo a escala micro (celular) y macro (social). De esta forma, la salud puede analizarse desde dos ángulos: la de la salud física (que incluye la salud sexual) y la de la salud mental. </p>
<p><a href="http://adelantemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/92827087.jpg"><img src="http://adelantemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/92827087.jpg" alt="" title="92827087" width="251" height="350" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-3744" /></a>Los Centros de Control de Enfermedades y Prevención (CDC por sus siglas en inglés) definen la salud sexual como el estado de bienestar físico, afectivo, mental y social en relación a la sexualidad. Este concepto se enfoca también en evitar los resultados negativos de salud a consecuencia de comportamientos sexuales poco saludables. </p>
<p>En comparación con la comunidad heterosexual, la población de hombres que tienen relaciones sexuales con hombres (HSH), que se identifican como gays y bisexuales o que no se identifican,  hay mayores tasas de VIH y otras infecciones de transmisión sexual (ITS), consumo de tabaco y drogas ilegales y depresión. </p>
<p>De acuerdo a CDC algunos de los factores que nos ponen más a riesgo de estas enfermedades son: el conformismo en relación al riesgo de infección por VIH, especialmente entre los hombres gays y bisexuales más jóvenes; la dificultad de mantener comportamientos seguros en cada encuentro sexual de manera constante y de por vida y también, la falta de conocimiento de los síntomas de algunas ITS.</p>
<p>De igual forma la homofobia en algunos proveedores médicos y el estigma pueden obstaculizar que nuestra comunidad gay busque y reciba servicios médicos adecuados. </p>
<p>¿Qué otras medidas puedes tomar para proteger tu salud?<br />
Aliméntate de manera saludable. (2) Mantén un peso saludable. (3) Haz ejercicio de manera habitual. (4) No fumes. (5) Limita el consumo de alcohol. (6)  Hazte pruebas para medir tu colesterol. (7) Pruebas de detección de cáncer de próstata, de testículos, de colon y anal. (8) Controla tu presión arterial. (9) visita a tu doctor con regularidad.</p>
<p>Una buena manera de empezar a tomar control sobre tu salud es haciéndote la prueba del VIH. Se recomienda hacerse las pruebas con mayor frecuencia (cada tres a seis meses) si tienes parejas múltiples o anónimas, tienes relaciones sexuales bajo el consumo de alcohol y drogas recreativas o tus parejas sexuales participan en este tipo de actividades. <p><strong>What is a Healthy Gay Man?</strong></p>
<p>The World Health Organization (WHO) defined health as &#8220;a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. The idea of health can be explained as the efficiency of metabolism and functions of a living being at the micro (cellular) and macro (social). Thus, health can be analyzed from two angles: that of physical health (including sexual health) and mental health.</p>
<p>The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines Sexual Health as the state of physical, emotional, mental, and social wellbeing in relation to sexuality. This concept emphasizes health and wellness as well as the avoidance of negative health outcomes that result from unhealthy sexual behaviors. </p>
<p>Compared to the heterosexual community, Men who Have Sex with Men (MSM) gay and non-gay identified have higher rates of HIV infection and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), as well as substance abuse/use, and report a MH illness such depression.</p>
<p>According to the CDC, there are many factors that contribute to the higher rates of HIV and STDs among gay and bisexual men. These factors include high prevalence of HIV and other STDs among MSM which increases the risk of disease exposure and limits access to medical preventative services and retention in care. Other factors are complacency about HIV risk, particularly among young gay and bisexual men; difficulty of consistently maintaining safe behaviors with every sexual encounter over the course of a lifetime and lack of awareness of syphilis symptoms and forms of transmission. Additionally, the issue of homophobia among care providers creates barriers to our gay community when seeking appropriate health services. </p>
<p>What other steps can you take to protect your health?<br />
Eat a healthy diet. (2) Maintain a healthy weight. (3) Exercise regularly. (4) Avoid smoking. (5) Limit/Reduce alcohol use. (6) Routine Cholesterol screenings. (7) Routine Cancer screenings. (8) Routine blood pressure screenings. (9) Routine full medical physical.</p>
<p>An excellent way to start taking care of your health is to get an HIV test and know your status. The recommendation is to get tested every three to six months—if you have multiple or anonymous partners, have sex in conjunction with drug use, or have sex partners that participate in these activities. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I recently read a news article that a man sold a kidney to buy an iPad. Problems can happen and that second kidney can come in handy later.<span id="more-3148"></span></p>
<p><a href="http://adelantemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/kidney.jpg"><img src="http://adelantemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/kidney.jpg" alt="" title="kidney" width="320" height="427" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-3149" /></a>When we eat, nutrients are absorbed through the intestines. The liver processes the nutrients to make energy and parts for cells to repair themselves or grow. The parts (chemicals) left over are waste and the two places the waste goes are the kidneys and gall bladder. If the waste can be made to dissolve in water then it goes through the kidney tubes which act to filter out the waste into the urine and keep the chemicals we need inside the blood.  The chemicals that can’t be dissolved are put in the gall bladder since that is where the oily chemicals go. Eventually that liquid (bile) goes into the intestine to help dissolve fats like soap would, so they can be absorbed.</p>
<p>Just like an automobile, the body has many parts and each is important for the entire machine to work well. The kidney parts can have several problems; the most common is infection. Usually it is from bacteria from the poop or from sex, travelling up the urine tube (urethra). In men this is in the penis so it is longer than in the female.  The short urethra in the female makes it easier for the bacteria to climb into the bladder; they have more urine infections than men.  The infection can be in the bladder or make its way up into the kidney and then into the blood.  If the infection is just in the bladder, then having to pee small amounts frequently and some burning may be all you feel. If it goes higher then there are sometimes back pain, sweats, and chills and one could die if left untreated.  Antibiotics are the best treatment. Cranberry juice has a little benefit. Perhaps drinking or eating sweets makes the bacteria grow more easily in the sweet urine.  Diabetics, if sugars are high, will have sweet urine too. Drinking lots of water to flush out your bladder is a good prevention.</p>
<p>Taking a long trip and holding your urine too long or having a common prostate problem (in men over 40 or so) causes the bladder to not empty completely—poor flushing.</p>
<p>If we don’t drink enough water and drink too much milk or chew too many calcium antacids, then the calcium can build up in our kidneys causing a painful stone. Sometimes the stone can be infected and make the infection hard to treat since the antibiotics cannot reach inside the stone well (it is not connected to our circulation). Sometimes a stone can block one of the tubes and a specialist must put a tube through the skin in the back to collect the urine in a bag in order to keep that kidney from total, permanent failure. Other times they can go up the urethra (don’t think about it&#8211;you will be asleep and it is totally necessary) and thread up a thin plastic tube (stent) to help urine get past the blockage. They take out the stent and the blockage after the inflammation has calmed down; otherwise surgery might make a hole in the soft, inflamed tubes, causing even more problems.</p>
<p>From sex or the same mechanism as getting a urine infection, the bacteria can swim to the ovaries in females or the testicles or prostate in males.  These are important infections. Usually there is pelvic pain involved. The female may lose her ability to pass the egg to the uterus in the future, causing the sperm to have to swim farther to fertilize and then the fetus grows in her tube.  That can be very painful and emergency surgery is the best plan. They would wish they had used condoms more to prevent the initial infection and pregnancy.</p>
<p>Poorly controlled diabetes, hypertension, or frequent infections can lead to kidney failure, slowly heading for dialysis. Kidney failure is painless. The leftover toxins that should go into the urine, stay in the blood, causing accelerated aging, hardening of the arteries (think strokes and heart attacks), and fatigue (like you are little poisoned). We use dialysis machines to pull the blood out, filter it, and then put it back. Usually a vein and an artery in the arm are connected by a surgeon so that the dialysis nurse can stick the needles in there.  Before that, usually we put in a thick tube (catheter) under the collar bone that has 2 tubes combined, one for the blood to come out, the other for the blood to go back.  Frequently these catheters cause a blood infection (because the barrier—the skin—has a hole in it now, and a hospital stay of a week or so may be needed to clear up the infection and remove and replace the tube.</p>
<p>Being low on fluids or having a blocked outlet can lead to acute renal failure. We can put a catheter in the urine tube to get past the blockage usually (happens more in men from enlarged prostates) and then give medications or perform surgery to open up the outlet.  People who don’t take enough water on a desert hike, or people who have severe vomiting and/or diarrhea may need a lot of fluids to help flush out the toxins and get their kidneys working correctly again.  It is amazing the boost of energy a liter of fluid will give such a person. Usually when it gets hot in July, we see people fainting and having dark urine, signs of not enough water taken in to make up for the loss of increased sweating and breathing. Dark urine usually means you need more water.</p>
<p>Whether you have acute or chronic renal failure and your kidneys can possibly improve we avoid all metformin, aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen and other arthritis medications, since they can worsen the kidney damage.</p>
<p>Of course any organ can be hit by cancer and the kidneys are no exception.<br />
Be nice to your kidneys, drink water till your urine is clear like water. Condoms are good too!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Los Senadores Tom Coburn (Oklahoma) y Richard Burr (Carolina del Norte), ambos Republicanos, introdujeron un proyecto de ley al Congreso este mayo conocido como “Abordando las Medidas de Contención de Gastos <span id="more-1969"></span>para Garantizar la Sustentabilidad y Éxito de la Ley sobre el Programa de Asistencia de Medicamentos contra el SIDA (ADAP, por sus siglas en inglés)¨ o Ley de Acceso al ADAP. Este proyecto de ley, conocido por su número de senado S.3401, exigiría que $126 millones de dólares de estímulo discrecional no gastados sean usados por la Secretaría de Salud y Servicios Humanos para el año fiscal del 2010 para reducir o eliminar las listas de espera del ADAP.</p>
<p>Los defensores del combate al VIH/SIDA han estado presionando al Congreso, pidiendo que el fondo de emergencia de $126 millones sea empleado para hacerle frente a la crisis del ADAP, la cual a partir del 1ero de junio incluye 12 estados con listas de espera, al igual que medidas de contención de costos como formularios limitados y el cambiar los requerimientos de elegibilidad limitando el número de personas que califican financieramente para el ADAP, dejándolos sin acceso a medicamentos.</p>
<p>El Congreso está renuente a gastar $126 millones adicionales durante esta crisis económica, ya que los políticos de ambas corrientes no quieren ser acusados de incrementar el déficit. El proyecto S.3401 por los Senadores Coburn y Burr es una rápida y juiciosa manera de lidiar con la crisis de financiamiento y eliminar las listas de espera, pero necesita de la participación de ambos lados.</p>
<p>AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF por sus siglas en inglés) ha instado específicamente a los demócratas, a dejar de lado las políticas partidistas y apoyar el proyecto de ley de Coburn-Burr. El apoyo para el proyecto también proviene de la Asociación de Defensores del ADAP (aaa+, por sus siglas en inglés) al igual que del Acceso Comunitario Red Nacional (CANN, por sus siglas en inglés).</p>
<p>El Senador Richard Burr, miembro del Comité de Salud, Educación, Trabajo y Pensiones declaró al momento de la introducción del proyecto de ley, ¨Más de 600 Norte Carolinianos viviendo con VIH/SIDA han estado esperando tener acceso a sus tan necesitados medicamentos controlados a través del ADAP. Pacientes esperando ser inscritos en el ADAP de Carolina del Norte y en toda nuestra nación están en necesidad de nuestro liderazgo aquí en Washington¨. Esto viene de un Senador Republicano de un estado conservador.</p>
<p>Durante todo ese tiempo, la Demócrata más poderosa en la Cámara ha permanecido callada mientras que los Programas de Asistencia para Medicamentos contra el SIDA (ADAP) alrededor de la nación permanecen en crisis. La Presidenta de la Cámara, Nancy Pelosi, tiene el poder para aliviar la crisis del ADAP al mostrar apoyo por el S.3401 Ley de ACCESO. Muchas vidas dependen de ello.</p>

<p><strong>ACCESS ADAP Act</strong></p>
<p>Senators Tom Coburn (OK) and Richard Burr (NC), both Republicans, introduced a bill in Congress, last May, known as the “Addressing Cost Containment Measures to Ensure the Sustainability and Success of the ADAP Act”  or ACCESS ADAP. This bill, known by its Senate number S.3401,  would direct that $126 million in unspent discretionary stimulus funds be used by the Secretary of Health and Human Services for fiscal year 2010 to reduce or eliminate ADAP wait lists.</p>
<p>HIV/AIDS advocates have been lobbying Congress, asking for $126 million in emergency funding  to address the ADAP crisis, which as of June 1st includes 12 states with wait lists, as well as cost containment measures like limited formularies and changing eligibility requirements reducing the  number of people who qualify for ADAP financially, leaving them without access to medications.</p>
<p> Congress is reluctant to spend an additional $126 million during this economic downturn as politicians on both sides of the aisle don’t want to be accused of increasing the deficit. S.3401 by Coburn and Burr is a quick and judicious way to deal with the funding crisis and eliminate wait lists, but it needs bi-partisan support. </p>
<p> AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has urged Democrats specifically, to put aside partisan politics and to support the Coburn-Burr bill. Support for the measure has also come from the ADAP Advocacy Associciation (aaa+) as well as the Community Access National Network (CANN).  </p>
<p>Senator Richard Burr, a member of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee stated  at the time of the bill’s introduction,  “More than 600 North Carolinians living with HIV/AIDS have been waiting to access their needed prescription drugs through ADAP. Patients waiting to enroll in ADAP in North Carolina and around our nation are in need of our leadership here in Washington”. This comes from a Republican Senator from a conservative state.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the most powerful Democrat in the House has been silent while the AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAPs) across the nation remain in crisis. House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi has the power to relieve the ADAP crisis by showing support for the S.3401 ACCESS bill. Lives depend on it. </p>
<p>It’s time for Pelosi and other Democrats to step up and do the right thing. I hope all Adelante readers will urge their representatives to back this bill. The urgency of the situation demands it. The time to act is now. Call Nancy Pelosi’s office today.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Looking on the bright side is a habit, just like exercise, drinking water or smoking.  Finding the silver lining is a way of being in the world. <span id="more-1941"></span>Choosing to see the positive over the negative takes practice, but will change your entire life utterly and completely.</p>
<p><a href="http://adelantemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/energy2.jpg"><img src="http://adelantemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/energy2.jpg" alt="" title="energy2" width="350" height="200" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1942" /></a>Most of us are criticized as children and so we grow up to criticize everyone and everything in our life.  We are especially critical of ourselves.  This is the training we learned as children, and we continue it into adulthood, complaining of our jobs, our mates, our lives.  </p>
<p>The good news, however, the bright side of this negative life’s blueprint is that this constant critique of our lives is only a habit, and we have the power to unlearn this negative behavior pattern.  When you want to stop smoking or eating fatty foods, you begin by replacing the negatives with positives.  You substitute carrots or lollipops for cigarettes and you choose broccoli over bacon.  </p>
<p>Eventually, making positive, life affirming choices becomes the new habit and you begin seeing the world and your life in a completely different light.</p>
<p>Stopping a negative, critical thought mid-sentence is a great way to start replacing darkness with light.  Take the next step and replace the critical words with positive words, even when you do not completely believe what you are saying.</p>
<p>Words have power and when you make a critical statement, you draw that exact criticism to you.  Instead, see the bright side of a situation and ignore the darkness.  You will then draw the light of the situation to you.  Every single situation, event and person has an innate light and when you focus on the light, the dark becomes unimportant and loses all value.</p>
<p>Health, happiness and life-affirming behaviors are all interrelated.  They are connected and when you find the joy and the happiness, you find the health, the prosperity and love that are like-energies.</p>
<p>Joy and love are the highest energies in the universe.  Shame is one of the lowest.  When we criticize or gossip about another person or our jobs, our lives, we are attempting to shame and degrade the person, job or life of which we are critical.  </p>
<p>We are creating life-depleting, low energy.  When we create shame, we create a life filled with darkness and life-depleting energy.  Joy, prosperity, love and happiness do not dwell in the low, critical energies, so we eliminate the environment in which the “good stuff” inhabits.</p>
<p>Choosing to find the bright side, the silver lining or the good in a situation or person, creates the exact environment in which exists all the things we truly want in our lives.</p>
<p>No one wants to have a bad life or to be in a bad relationship or job, yet, by constantly criticizing our lives, our jobs, our mates, we create precisely what we are trying to avoid.  </p>
<p>We actually invite the negatives into our lives by being negative.  Choosing a dark perspective or being critical is like an engraved invitation, inviting more darkness and things/situations/people to criticize.</p>
<p>Choosing to see your life, your job, your mate, your body, whatever it is with which you feel unhappy, in a positive light will not only make you happier, but improve the object of your unhappiness.</p>
<p>If you dislike your body and feel it is fat, you are constantly focused on the fatness, the ugliness of your body.  You may stop dressing and grooming well.  You may buy ugly fat-people clothes, and find yourself growing into them.   </p>
<p>Instead, if you focus on the beauty of your body, you may find you are buying better fitting clothes.  You may find yourself exercising.  You may find that broccoli is far better than bacon.  You may even lose weight.  </p>
<p>Whether you lose weight or not, you will feel, connected to and pleased with your body by focusing on its beauty and svelteness.  You will be happy with your body and that is the whole point in the first place. </p>
<p>You may even find that being a size or two larger than Ricky Martin works for you.  You may not only accept your body, but yourself.  In accepting self, we begin the process of choosing joy over criticism. </p>
<p>The next time you find yourself uttering a negative whether about yourself or someone else, stop!  Instead find a positive.  Replace the words and eventually you will replace the perspective.  Replace the perspective and you will find yourself replacing the feelings.  Replace the feelings of darkness with light and you will find yourself living a life filled with joy.</p>

<p>Primero me tengo que ver bien, ya que somos exhibicionistas y nos encanta despertar el interés de cualquier chico guapo en el gym, Segundo necesito saber que estaré cómodo haciendo mis ejercicios con ropa que sea elástica, ligera y limpia, tener la ropa interior adecuada para no enseñar las pelotas y miembro a todo el mundo. Tercero no hay nada mejor que llevar los tenis adecuados con soporte en el arco de el pie para correr o tener un mejor balance en mis ejercicios con pesas. Si tus tenis parecen chanclas y no tienen arco te van a lastimar a la larga. Cuarto lleva siempre tu toalla, no una muestra del tamaño de una toalla femenina, una suficientemente grande y un cambio más de camiseta por si eres de los que sudan como locos.</p>
<p>Es muy desagradable y una falta de respeto si sudas y dejas un charco de agua en tu caminadora o aparato y no tienes la educación de limpiar tu cochinero. <p><strong>The Most Confortable and Sexy Apparel to Wear at the Gym</strong></p>
<p>Hello dear readers, here is one of the most common dilemmas for us “gay guys” when we have to decide what to wear to workout. This is what I think about this issue.</p>
<p>First we have to look good because we are very exhibitionists y we love to awake the interest of any cute guy at the gym. Second I need to know that I will be comfortable doing my exercises with fabrics that can stretch, be light and clean, having the adequate underwear so we are not showing our package and balls hanging out to be watched by other people. Third it is very important to wear the best tennis shoes with support in the arch of the feet when running and to have a better stand and balance in your exercises, if your tennis have no support and look like flip flops this will hurt you in the long run. Fourth always bring a towel not the size of a feminine one, has to be big enough to clean your sweat and finally bring and extra t-shirt to change in case you sweat like crazy.</p>
<p>It is very disgusting and lack of respect if you sweat and leave an ocean of sweat in your treadmill or machine and you don’t have the education to clean up your mess. One of the most proliferate infections that had taken over at the gyms is the “STAPH INFECTION” which is transmitted in the sweat going from a skin leisure, to intern organs and dorsal spine leading you to death. If you want to get scare a little go to www.medicinenet.com searching “staph infection” to give you the reason to ask the pig which didn’t clean his sweat and demand him to clean it. God forbid me and don’t let me put my naked ass in the sauna with no towel and get infected from staph or any other infection. Here are the clothes I suggest you and I actually wear them myself.</p>

Jock strap BASKIT. This is one of my favorites!  great fit in the front and it lifts your gluts strikingly beautiful making your ass look yummy.<br />
Thong ”JM”, perfect when you are doing legs or yoga. It is very uncomfortable when you have to keep pulling all the time your regular underwear from your crack.<br />
<strong>2.</strong> &#8211; Shorts and tank top ”LASC” Perfect for running or doing legs workout. Do not use white fabrics because they look kind of yellowish and dirty basically.<br />
<strong>3.</strong> &#8211; Pants and tank top “LASC” These pants are made from a special breathing material that dry out and shapes your ass spectacular.<br />
<strong>4.</strong> &#8211; Tennis ‘‘Nike Shock” has the best support of tons of other tennis I had tried for your feet. They are comfortable, durable and lots of style.</p>

Tendré la oportunidad de ahora en adelante informarles y darles los consejos de cómo poner en forma su cuerpo dándoles tips de técnica y variación de ejercicios en su programa de ejercicio, buenos hábitos alimenticios y lugares dónde comer sano, manejo de stress, imagen y autoestima, el por qué de ese dolor de espalda que nos molesta diariamente, mitos de las vitaminas y aminoacidos, energía, agua y descanso. ¿Cómo saber si la clase de aerobics  que estás tomando es impartida por un maestro calificado para que no te lastimes? y varios temas más apegados a el mejoramiento de tu conducta en el ejercicio para darte una mejor calidad de vida. Recuerda que el hombre cuando su cuerpo y mente no son ejercitados empieza a envejecer.</p>
<p>Mi filosofía es muy simple: Respeta a tu cuerpo para que el te respete. Si comes basura, basura te verás. </p>

<p>Ahora que empiezan las resoluciones de Año Nuevo te recomiendo los siguiente pasos para retomar tu programa de ejercico y llevarte al camino de una vida sana y menos problemas físicos o emocionales.</p>
<p>No hay ninguna pastilla, dieta o embrujo mágico que te haga perder grasa en un mes después de pasártela comiendo sin medida y sin mover un dedo por semanas o quizás meses. La cantidad de calorías que consumes por día debe ser menor a lo que realmente quemas en el gimnasio.</p>
<p>Ponte a pensar que no pudes consumir 2000 ó 3000 calorías al día en comida chatarra y no quemes ni 300 calorías en 20 min. de ejercicio cardiobascular diariamente en el gym.</p>
<p>Ordena tu comida, en le desayuno y lunch lo mejor y más variado en vegetales, verduras, proteina, y cuida de no comer muchos carbohidratos. Tu cena, la comida más ligera, realízala con ensaladas y un poquitín de proteina.</p>
<p>Creo este es un buen comienzo para tus resoluciones de este 2010. En el siguiente número te sugeriré cómo organizar tu semana de ejercicio.</p>

<p>Dear readers, I’m Octavio, personal trainer for aerobics, flexibility, yoga, kick boxing, and therapist in shiatsu massage, just to mention some. With 25 years of experience in exercise, I have practiced sports such as Tae Kwan Do, swimming and Olympic gymnasia. How to know if the aerobics class that you are taking is teach by a qualified teacher so you don’t get hurt? And many other issues intended to follow a better conduct and exercise, for a better quality life. Remember that if a body and mind are not in use they start getting old.</p>
<p>My philosophy is very simple: Respect your body so it respect you back. If you eat trash, you will look as trash.</p>
<p>We are responsible of how the world will perceive us, and even more responsible of illness as obesity, cardiac problems and depression when we don’t take the precaution of giving healthy food to our organism, exercising our hearth, muscles and mind in order to have a strong immunological system. </p>
<p>Also, if you have an issue you would like to approach, please send me an e-mail to help you. Now that we start with the New Year’s resolutions I recommend the following steps to re-start your exercise program and to take you to a healthy life with less physical and emotional problems.</p>
<p>There’s not a tablet, diet or magic to lose fat in a month after eating without control and moving a finger for weeks or months. The amount of calories that you consume every day needs to be less to the amount you are able to burn at the gym.</p>
<p>Take it seriously, you can’t consume 2000 or 3000 calories per day on trash food and not even burning 300 calories in 20 minutes of cardio exercise at the gym.</p>
<p>Plan what you’ll eat, breakfast and lunch need to be your best meals, with variety and vegetables, protein, and don’t eat too much carbohydrates. Your dinner, the most light meal, needs to be salad and a little bit of protein.</p>
<p>I believe this is a good starting for your 2010 resolutions. In the next issue I will suggest how to organize a week of exercises. </p>
<p>This is the time to change your appearance in your life!!<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A lo mejor has experimentado un momento en el despacho del médico que te hizo decir “ay, no” – una mirada de incomprensión o de hostilidad abierta que te hizo sospechar que los sentimientos de tu <span id="more-932"></span>médico sobre tu orientación sexual o identidad de género impedirían un  buen tratamiento médico.  Así se sintió la cliente de Lambda Legal, Lupita Benítez, cuando después de casi un año de tratamientos contra la infertilidad, sus médicos le dijeron que no la iban a inseminar por ser lesbiana – pensando que sus creencias cristianas fundamentalistas los ponían por encima de las leyes californianas anti-discriminatorias.  Se equivocaban.  La Corte Suprema de California dictaminó unánimemente en agosto de 2008 que,  sin importar sus creencias religiosas, los proveedores de servicios de salud debían cumplir con las leyes antidiscriminatorias estatales y no podían negar un cuidado médico apropiado basándose en la orientación sexual del paciente. </p>
<p><img src="http://adelantemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/cross.jpg" alt="cross" title="cross" width="350" height="200" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-933" />La verdad es que el prejuicio anti-gay y anti-transgénero impregna la profesión médica, con un efecto adverso para la salud de la gente GLBT.  Este prejuicio es la causa de que muchos eviten cuidados preventivos, con el resultado de que problemas de salud se agraven por haberse dejado sin diagnosis o tratamiento adecuados.  Esta dinámica, junto al estrés que causa el prejuicio anti-GLBT, tiene como consecuencia un peor estado de salud para la gente GLBT en general.  Las leyes antidiscriminatorias de ciertos estados refuerzan las normas nacionales de ética médica que prohíben el prejuicio anti-GLBT y que proveen protección muy importante para la gente GLBT.     </p>
<p> Al menos 13 estados y el Distrito de Columbia prohíben la discriminación basada en orientación sexual e identidad de género en lugares públicos, como proveedores médicos, y nueve estados más prohíben la discriminación basada solamente en la  orientación sexual.</p>
<p>Los médicos que piensan que está bien discriminar contra los pacientes GLBT deberían saber mejor que esto no es así, ya que la misma Asociación Médica Americana describe con detalle las reglas éticas que deben cumplir sus miembros, e incluyen por lo menos dos docenas de reglas que confirman la obligación de proporcionar un cuidado culturalmente adecuado para sus pacientes GLBT.  La póliza de la AMA dice claramente que aunque los médicos tienen el derecho a negarse a hacer procedimientos específicos bajo algunas circunstancias limitadas con base religiosa, no pueden negarse a tratar a grupos particulares de personas.</p>
<p>Lambda Legal cree que los proveedores de cuidado médico deben ser diligentes en adherirse a sus reglas éticas profesionales y a la ley estatal; esto es un componente vital para asegurar un cuidado de alta calidad a los pacientes y algo que limita la responsabilidad del doctor a daños potenciales. Hemos trabajado con instituciones médicas para mejorar su conformidad con la ley, y recomendamos que los proveedores den algunos pasos para proporcionar un cuidado apropiado a los pacientes GLBT tal y como actualizando sus pólizas antidiscriminatorias, requiriendo que su personal cumpla con el Código de Ética de la AMA, y proveyendo un entrenamiento anual para médicos y otro personal.</p>
<p>Mientras el Congreso está enfrentando la cuestión de la reforma a nuestro sistema de cuidado médico y debate varias desigualdades de salud, es más importante que nunca que responsabilicemos al gobierno y a nuestros médicos a seguir los mismos estándares de dignidad que todos merecemos. <p>Chances are you’ve had a moment or two in the doctor’s office that made you go ‘oh no’ – a blank stare or outright hostility that made you suspect your doctor’s feelings about your sexual orientation or gender identity were getting in the way of providing good medical care.  That’s how Lambda Legal client Lupita Benitez felt when, after almost a year of ineffective infertility treatments, her doctors told her they wouldn’t inseminate her because she was a lesbian – thinking their fundamentalist Christian beliefs elevated them above California’s anti-discrimination laws.  They were wrong.  The California Supreme Court unanimously ruled in August 2008 that, regardless of religious views, medical providers must comply with state anti-discrimination law and cannot withhold medically appropriate care based on the patient’s sexual orientation.</p>
<p><strong>Good Health for Everyone</strong></p>
<p>The truth is, anti-gay and anti-transgender bias permeates the medical profession, with adverse effects on the health of LGBT people. This bias leads many to avoid preventive and other needed care, often resulting in health problems that are more acute because they have been left undiagnosed and untreated. These dynamics, coupled with the stress caused by anti-LGBT prejudice, lead to poorer health for LGBT people as a whole. Antidiscrimination laws reinforce national medical ethics rules prohibiting anti-LGBT bias and provide much needed protection for LGBT people. </p>
<p>At least thirteen states and the District of Columbia currently prohibit sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination in public accommodations, such as medical providers, and an additional nine states prohibit discrimination based solely on sexual orientation.   </p>
<p>But doctors who think it’s okay to discriminate against LGBT patients should know better for another reason: the American Medical Association itself spells out the ethical rules its members must follow, including at least two dozen confirming the duty to provide culturally competent care for LGBT patients.  AMA policy clearly states that while doctors may have a right in some limited circumstances to refuse to perform specific procedures on religious grounds, they can’t similarly refuse to treat particular groups of people. </p>
<p>Lambda Legal believes that medical care providers should be diligent in adhering to their professional ethical rules and state law; it is a vital part of ensuring quality patient care and limits potential liability.  We have worked with medical institutions to enhance providers’ compliance with the law, and recommend that providers take steps to provide appropriate care to LGBT patients by updating their antidiscrimination polices, requiring staff to comply with the AMA Code of Ethics, and providing annual trainings for both physicians and other medical staff.  </p>
<p>As Congress takes up the issue of health care reform and debates various health disparities, it’s more important than ever for us all to hold both government and our medical providers to the standards of equal dignity that we all deserve. <p>There are 3 factors that help you make decisions.<br />
1. Reward. This is the good you get out of the behavior.<br />
2. Cost. What the negatives are about the decision.<span id="more-268"></span><br />
3. Risk or Chance. The chance you will get the Reward or pay the Cost.</p>
<p><img src="http://adelantemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/askthedoctor2.jpg" alt="askthedoctor2" title="askthedoctor2" width="150" height="150" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-269" />EXAMPLES: You pay a dollar for a lottery ticket. The risk of costing a dollar is high, but the cost is low. The reward can be huge. The chance you get the big money is very low. The vast majority lose money.</p>
<p>You decide to drive faster than is safest since you are in a hurry. The risk of getting a reward is moderate that you will get there early enough to make a difference. The cost can be a $200 ticket or killing many people, but this risk is mild. Recent alcohol increases the risk.</p>
<p>SEX</p>
<p>Suppose you meet someone who says they are HIV negative. You have no idea if someone is telling you the truth or what you want to hear, so they can have some pleasure. Remember that a negative HIV test today tells us you were negative 3 months ago since it takes that long sometimes for a test to turn positive after an exposure.</p>
<p>The chance is high that you will be rewarded with pleasure. The cost is catching sexually transmitted diseases including HIV. Is this cost is high or low for you? It depends on how much you value your health and handle hassles the rest of your life. At the least you should go for an STD checkup a couple of weeks after the contact, earlier if having symptoms, and take rapid HIV tests regularly.</p>
