IMMIGRATION

The Border Crisis

The Border Crisis

By Ally Bolour, Esq.

The world is watching in horror as our government continues its march towards having official and permanent internment camps for migrants coming thru our southern border.  For the first time since WWII, we are separating migrant families, caging the children, jailing the parents, and lying to the public at every single turn.

As of this writing, there are over 3000 children in U.S. custody, some just toddlers, who have no idea where or who their parents are.  The parents are probably in jails at different locations throughout the country with little or no information on their children’s whereabouts.

Its important to point out that seeking asylum at the border is perfectly legal.  These people have committed no crime and do not belong in jail.  At any other time, they would be processed and released pending a judicial review as required by law.  For security purposes, they would have probably been released with an ankle bracelet so they could be monitored.  Those bracelets cost about $12.

Presently, the Trump Administration is jailing so many migrants that the “for profit” prisons he uses have run out of bed space.  These “for profit” prisons were all big donors to Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential race.  These prisons are racking it in by charging the taxpayers approximately $1.2 Billion per year!

A country that mistreats children under any pretense has completely gone off the rails.  As a nation we must and we will regroup to correct this atrocity.  In the meantime, here is what you can do:
