The 2024 Downey Pride celebration was held on August 10 in the downtown area and was a huge success. Thousands of local residents of Downey, Southeast Los Angeles, surrounding communities and others enjoyed an afternoon/evening of entertainment, community booths, art exhibitions, food trucks, music and dancing. It was an event for everybody, members of the LGBTQ community, families and local residents, local businesses, elected officials and community organizations.
Headlining the main stage were music star Lorena Herrera and Valentina of RuPaul’s Drag Race, among others. Mayor Mario Trujillo gave thanks to attendees of the event and expressed his appreciation for their support given the recent banning of the Pride Flag from flying on Downey city owned or operated property by the City Council. The event was supported by LA CADA, a local non-profit organization that assisted with organizing the event with local planners. To see more photos, visit our IG @AdelanteMag.
