AltaMed Health Services to Host “Inclusion Beyond Pride: A Queer Art Show” on Friday, Aug. 6, 6-10 p.m. in Los Angeles
AltaMed to offer free HIV testing and access to community resources
WHO/WHAT: AltaMed Health Services, the nation’s largest independent federally qualified community health center invites the community to meet local artists whose work represents the diversity, resistance, and pride of the LGBTQ+ community during “inclusion Beyond Pride: A Queer Art Show on Friday, Aug. 6, 6 p.m. in Los Angeles.
The free event will offer free HIV testing, information about PrEP, the once-daily pill reduces the risk of getting HIV from sex by more than 90%; and introduce guests to resources that support the LGBTQ+ community.
As one of the largest providers of HIV/AIDS care in Los Angeles and Orange counties, AltaMed has been working to reduce HIV/AIDS health disparities among underinsured, hard-to-reach communities of color for more than 30 years. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 1.2 million people in the United States are living with HIV infection and 1 in 7 is unaware of their infection. Despite advances in HIV testing and treatment, communities of color continue to be disproportionately affected by HIV in Southern California.
AltaMed’s HIV centers provide specialty medical care, dental, behavioral health services, prevention services, support groups and more.
Masks will be required at the event, regardless of vaccination status.
