Programado para el 18 de Junio
El festival del Orgullo Gay de Boyle Heights se llevará a cabo el 18 de junio. Ha estado planificado desde enero de 2019. El evento se canceló el año pasado debido a la pandemia de Covid-19. La organización cuenta con el apoyo del concejal de la ciudad de Los Ángeles Kevin De León, el asambleísta de California Miguel Santiago y la senadora estatal María Elena Durazo.
El objetivo de realizar el evento en Boyle Heights es “hacer que nuestra comunidad LGBTQ sea más visible y crear más tolerancia en una comunidad que siempre ha sido conocida como una ciudad de mariachis y muy conservadora. Es hora de romper estereotipos”.
El evento espera promover la unidad, la diversidad y el orgullo. “Brindaremos visibilidad y orgullo a nuestra comunidad LGBTQ al crear una sola voz. Nuestro evento será un espacio para que todos aquellos que tienen miedo de salir y expresarse vivan y disfruten sin miedo”.
Como este es su primer evento, los organizadores dicen que quieren que los jóvenes sean parte fundamental en la creación de conciencia. “Queremos agradecer a la comunidad por el apoyo y las firmas que recolectaron para que se llevara a cabo este día tan especial. BOYLE HEIGHTS GAY PRIDE SET FOR JUNE 18
The Boyle Heights Gay Pride festival will be held on June 18. It has been in the planning since January 2019. The event was cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The organization has the support of Los Angeles City Councilmember Kevin De Leon, California Assemblyman Miguel Santiago and State Senator Maria Elena Durazo.
The objective of hosting the event in Boyle Heights is to “make our LGBTQ community more visible and to create more tolerance in a community that has always been known as a city of Mariachis and very conservative. It is time to break stereotypes.”
The event hopes to promote unity, diversity, and pride. “We will provide visibility and pride to our LGBTQ community by creating a single voice. Our event will be a space for all those who are afraid to go out and express themselves to live and enjoy without fear.”
As this is their first event, the organizers say they want young people to be a fundamental part of creating the awareness. “We wish to thank the community for the support and signatures they collected for this very special day to take place.
