Las plataformas de los partidos Demócrata y Republicano están disponibles para su análisis. Lo siguiente son puntos sobresalientes en asuntos de inmigración por parte de ambas campañas.
Republicanos:
Ellos apoyan DOMA (Defensa de Acta del Matrimonio), se oponen a cualquier forma de amnistía o a la Acción Diferida. Apoyan el uso mandatorio del Sistema de Verificación de Elegibilidad para Empleo a Extranjeros (S.A.V.E.) – un sistema con aplicación en internet que verifica la presencia legítima de los aplicantes – antes de que el Estado o el gobierno federal les otorgue el derecho a reembolsos del IRS. Ellos insisten en el uso del programa E-verify – un sistema con aplicación en internet que verifica la autorización para trabajar.
Demócratas:
Los Demócratas tienen el cometido de pasar una reforma de inmigración completa, y apoyan completamente el DREAM Act (Acta de SUEÑO), asegurando que los jóvenes que fueron traidos aquí de manera ilegal siendo niños tengan un camino a la ciudadanía.
Ambos partidos enfatizan la necesidad de la seguridad en la frontera. El Presidente Obama ha deportado a más indocumentados que cualquier otro presidente en la historia de los EE.UU. Sin embargo, los Republicanos quieren más y están a favor de la auto-deportación para más de 10 millones de indocumentados viviendo en los EE.UU. No están satisfechos con el record del Presidente sobre seguridad en la frontera. Tampoco están contentos con la aprobación de la Acción Diferida por parte del Presidente, que aun está pendiente en el Congreso.
El Presidente Obama ha dicho que quiere completa igualdad para todos los estadounidenses, incluyendo a la comunidad GLBT. Apoyaría el rechazo a DOMA. Él ya no está apoyando DOMA.
Aun más, el Presidente apoya una Reforma de Inmigración Completa y le pide al Congreso al menos pasar la Acción Diferida (o Acta de Sueño), para que los jóvenes que vinieron aquí siendo niños y que han crecido en los EE.UU. puedan contribuir completamente a este país.
Mitt Romney está en contra de cualquier Amnistía y ha dicho que él vetaría el Acta de Sueño si llegara a pasar en el Congreso. Él está siempre en apoyo de cambiar la Constitución de los EE.UU. para limitar el matrimonio entre un hombre y una mujer. Él defendería y enforzaría DOMA.

Immigration and Presidential Elections
The Democratic and Republican party platforms are now available for review. The following are some highlights on immigration issues from each camp.
Republicans:
They support DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act,) Oppose any form of amnesty or the Dream Act. They support the mandatory use of the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (S.A.V.E.) program – an internet-based system that verifies the lawful presence of applicants – prior to the granting of any State or federal government entitlements or IRS refunds. They insist on the use of the E-verify program – an internet-based system that verifies the employment authorization.
Democrats:
Democrats are strongly committed to enacting comprehensive immigration reform and are in full support of the DREAM Act legislation ensuring that young people who were brought here unlawfully as children have a path to citizenship.
Both parties emphasize the need for border security. President Obama has deported more undocumented people than any other president in history. However, the Republicans want more and are in favor of self deportation for over 10 million undocumented people living in the U.S. They are not satisfied with the President’s record on border security. They are also not happy with the President’s Executive Order re the Dreamers pending congressional action.
President Obama has said that he wants full equality for all Americans, including the LGBT community. He would support the repeal of DOMA. Already, he no longer is defending DOMA.
Furthermore, the President is in support of a Comprehensive Immigration Reform and is asking Congress to at least pass the Dream Act so the young people who came here as children and have grown up in the U.S may contribute fully to this country.
Mitt Romney is against any form of Amnesty and has said that he would veto the Dream Act if it ever passed the Congress. He is also in support of changing the U.S. Constitution to limit marriage between a man and a woman. He would defend and enforce DOMA.
