This year marks the thirteenth year that the Queerty Awards show will take place in the heart of Hollywood on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. The Queerty Awards are a way to look back and reflect on LGBTQ+ pop culture from the past year. It celebrates people and moments that have moved us, everything from movies and TV to music and comedy to people we follow on social media, people in the sports world, drag queens, and even literature.
Once a year, the Queerty staff selects nominees, and anyone can go to the website and vote for any and every category. Many fans have been voting since the beginning of the award’s first show, and every year, it just gets bigger.
The Queerty Awards show will be held this year at the Avalon in Hollywood, California, which will be the biggest event venue the awards have used to date. After the devastating fires earlier this year, Hollywood needs some positive sunshine shining down on us, and what better way than having the Queerty Awards with a fabulous lineup of LGBTQ+ people.
This year, Bob the Drag Queen, a big hit with the drag scene, will be hosting the award show with a comedic approach. There will be fun musical moments and special guests and honorees. It’s an event where the community comes together under one roof and celebrates each other in a loving and positive way—born out of a moment when there weren’t many outlets for the LGBTQ+ community to celebrate and recognize the people who wouldn’t normally get recognized. Well, this show is it!
With so many amazing, diverse voices, there will be too many to name for this event and past award shows. But every year, there is a wonderful moment of talent that attends the show and that is nominated and wins awards in every category. Voters can vote for their favorite to win the Queerty Award trophy. Some of the previous honorees have been Rosie O’Donnell and Paula Abdul, who won an award for her allyship in the LGBTQ+ community.
The event will start with a red carpet. Reporters can take pictures, do interviews, and chat with many of the guests and nominees. It is an atmosphere of fun turns and events, a fun celebration to have many of the same LGBTQ+ people all in one place, with no other feeling like this.
The Queerty Awards are nominated by a talented staff of many with different interests in areas of expertise and with diverse voices. They also know and take into consideration what the audience likes and responds to. From their website, they are able to know what they want, what got tons of clicks, likes, and views, and what break out star is popping. Many of the nominees share their nominations on Instagram and other social media platforms, bringing more fans to the site and allowing them to vote for their favorites. With the Queerty Awards, the idea is always to uplift and celebrate. No matter what is going on in the world, there is this beacon of light that brings the community together to celebrate and continue to grow and evolve together.
This is like a rainbow of hope for the LGBTQ+ community. Viewers can watch this private event on WOW Presents Plus, which will premiere on March 18, 2025.
