Kayn Falcon was born in Costa Rica and comes from a long line of Costa Rican artists. Kayn grew up in Connecticut, and as a kid, Kayn’s grandmother would tell him to sing in his church’s choir. Kayn admits he was hesitant to get up and sing, but after some persuading and getting the courage to sing in front of others, Kayn and his family realized he could sing.

In middle school, it was hard for Kayn to express himself, so he found it easier just to sing to people. That was also when he began journaling, writing, and adding melody to his work, and eventually started making his own records. Kayn tried to get producers to help him make a track, but Kayn is very specific about his sound and found the people he was working with didn’t get his sound.

So, he learned on his own how to produce and create his own records, writing and producing his own lyrics and music. Kayn’s influences are 21 Pilots, Lady Gaga, Jon Bellion, Melanie Martinez, and Katy Perry. Kayn says that after he watched Melanie Martinez’s video for the song Pity Party, he felt such a strong connection to her and her performance. That was when something triggered for Kayn, and when he thought he wanted to be a professional singer and to use his voice as a bigger purpose to send a message.

Kayn sings as a tenor and admits to having a higher pitch to his voice, calling it a mellow brightness to his voice and sound. Kayn’s first record was called Handprints and was about his high school experiences, like his first kiss, crush, and heartbreak. But now, at the age of twenty-two, Kayn admits he wants to go commercial and wants a brighter, happier sound with a 2010 golden pop sound.

Kayn’s style is really dark and he has a thing for A minor chords, but is also trying to go for G majors and more happier sounds.

Kayn admits to having synesthesia; whenever he listens to music, he sees colors, which can be a remarkable and beautiful experience. “I like to create a world for people to live in my records. I like to give them something deeper than just a song. Most of my records hold a deeper meaning.”

He described his style as the boy-next-door type of superhero, yet futuristic, yet retro and nostalgic. Kayn has a few shows coming in New York for Global Fashion at the Glass House, and he is also working on the video for his latest single Automatic: a very upbeat song, very synthesized chorus. The meaning behind it goes back to his obsession with suburbia, AKA the perfect life.

“The song talks about living your life on autopilot. Like not being aware of your surroundings, it’s a bit of a commentary on modern society and in a perfect land.”

When Kayn is not working on music, writing, and producing records every single day, he likes to be active at the gym, and he also likes to go into the city and get fashion inspiration. He also volunteers at local senior homes because he feels he can learn so much from the elderly. Their experiences really go down, and they are able to teach you things that you haven’t experienced yet, explained Kayn in his interview. He likes to learn from them, because they have experience and experience is your best teacher.

At the moment, Kayn is single but would like to be with somebody who is not the complete opposite, but someone who challenges him in a good way and someone with good values and morals. Someone who is funny and has a good sense of humor, because Kayn admits he has an insane comedic brain.
